Lots of help needed with TLPC Stone Soup Night February 14th!!!!!

by webmaster ~ January 15th, 2010. Filed under: Sunday Worship.

TLPC is sponsoring the Stone Soup Community Dinner at the old Rec. Hall on February 14th.  For those of you who don’t know about “Stone Soup” here is a link to a past Moonshine Ink article about it. http://moonshineink.com/articles.php/60/1143 This is a chance for some great intergenerational fellowship and service.  It is also a great chance for TLPC to be a real presence in this community!  If my recipe is approved, we will be doing an Old Fashioned Vegetable Soup.  All cooking and prep needs to be done at the Rec. Center.  We are making 25 gallons of soup!!!  This will serve 200 people.  Last year 145 people were served some Sundays.  The leftover soup is given away at the end.

To pull this off we are going to need lots of volunteers.  I would like to involve Sunday School kids from about 4th grade and up ( This depends on maturity.  They must be able to work for an extended time.), Confirmation Class, high school youth and all the rest of us who can come.  You are welcome to ask friends to volunteer.  I need people willing to work 2½ to 3 hour shifts as follows:

2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Chef and prep, 4 or more (Most of these people would be peeling and cutting vegetables.)

Set-up dining room, 4 to 6

5:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm

Serving and keeping soup going with the last ½ hour for cleanup, 6 or more people.

Please email or phone me if you and your family members can volunteer and indicate which shift you prefer.  Also phone or email if you have questions.  Edie Lott, thelotts@tlpc.org or 582-5362
