Come Celebrate Our Year of Recycling for Africa!

Summer Fellowship Party Sunday, July 17th at the Lott’s, 10435 Royal Crest

On July 17th we will dedicate our year of recycling for Africa in the morning worship and celebrate with a party Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m. Our CRV recycling program has grown from a tiny amount about 7 years ago, when Kirk Gardener first proposed it, to a $650 plus $650 in matching funds annual event! This program has become a real life changing activity, saving many lives of our brothers and sisters in Africa. This year our recycling money goes to International Health Partners toward a physical therapy unit. Who would have believed that by saving bottles and cans we used to throw away, we could make such a difference! Besides that, we help the environment, and it doesn’t take one penny! We need to celebrate and have a party! Everyone is welcome! Mark your calendar and come have a great time together. Feel free to gather Sunday evening from 5:30 p.m. on at 10435 Royal Crest. We will eat around 6:00 p.m. We have plenty of room for the kids to play, so it should be fun for the whole family. Food will be potluck style. TLPC Partners with Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Builds

TLPC will be part of building a new house in Grass Valley. A single mother, now living with her parents in a 10 member household, will have her first chance at home ownership. Nevada County Habitat for Humanity is the affiliate with the Sierra-Nevada Thrivent Chapter that has been selected to build a Thrivent home for 2011. Thrivent will pay approximately 70% of the cost of the build. The three Lutheran Congregations in our Chapter must contribute 10% of the cost and 50% of the labor. Nevada County Habitat for Humanity has been providing homes for hard working families of Nevada County for the past 15 years. To date they have built 19 homes serving 26 adults and 60 children. Currently, they have broken ground and begun construction on homes for 2 local families as part of the 16 home “Heritage Oaks” development project in Grass Valley. The Thrivent Builds home will be house number 3 in the project and will help Habitat build more affordable homes in 2011. We are asking you to please take advantage of the generosity of Thrivent Financial and make a donation to this Thrivent Builds home to help fulfill the critical need for affordable housing in Nevada County.
