Sermon Text: Luke 5:1-11
Sermon Title: “Take a Hike”:
Sermon Notes: Take note of how Peter’s response to Jesus parallels First Isaiah’s response to his vision of the lofty God. Sometimes our best efforts, even when we’re doing what we do well, fall short of the best. The grace of God promises that even in these times, God is present with us.

Gospel Text: Luke 4:21-30
Preacher: Rev. Scott Trevithick, Parish Associate
Gospel Notes: Beware, all homegrown prophets or prophets to be. If you dare to challenge the status quo, your old friends and mentors may turn on you and become your most determined enemies. Their status quo may well mean more to them than your life.

Sermon Text: Luke 4:14-21
Sermon Title: “Playing the Periphery”
Sermon Notes: Listen as Jesus describes his mandate for ministry. It’s yours too . . . and mine. We all have different gifts, but we use them in ministry for the same purpose – to share the love of God through Christ in the world.

TLPC is sponsoring the Stone Soup Community Dinner at the old Rec. Hall on February 14th. For those of you who don’t know about “Stone Soup” here is a link to a past Moonshine Ink article about it. http://moonshineink.com/articles.php/60/1143 This is a chance for some great intergenerational fellowship and service. It is also a great chance for TLPC to be a real presence in this community! If my recipe is approved, we will be doing an Old Fashioned Vegetable Soup. All cooking and prep needs to be done at the Rec. Center. We are making 25 gallons of soup!!! This will serve 200 people. Last year 145 people were served some Sundays. The leftover soup is given away at the end. Continue reading »

Sermon Text: John 2:1-11
Sermon Title: “New Wine”
Sermon Notes: Sisters and brothers, the old wine has been gulped down. It’s all gone. Jesus has come into the world, and there is new wine now – more than enough new wine for all of us – and its freshness will both stun us and excite us. We need to continually seek God to refresh our faith – and our faith is refreshed when we follow God.
