Sermon Text: John 1:6-8, 19-28
Sermon Title: “Why are You Waiting?”
Text Notes: In a crackling exchange with religious authorities, John tells them who he is not without revealing who he is. The “voice’s” identity is not important. Everything rests on the identity of the one whom the voice proclaims.

Sermon Text: Mark 1:1-8
Sermon Title: “A Voice in the Wilderness”
Text Notes: As far as Mark is concerned, the story of Jesus begins in a wilderness instead of a manger, with John’s announcement that the Lord is on the way. John’s prepares by offering a cleansing bath of forgiveness to all who repent.
