In Truckee, community members gathered to honor the fallen and those still serving on the front lines. The event was sponsored by Truckee Lutheran Presbyterian Church.
“This is a horrific event that really did change the landscape of our national life in a way nothing else had,” said Joanie Tankersley, Pastor. “As a community I think it’s important we honor those we lost but we also want to remember that as a community we are served by our first responders and we want to honor them as well.”
Boy Scouts presented the colors for the ceremony.
“I think it’s important not only to come together but also to lead and guide the next generation to be people of character who will respect and serve one another,” she said.
