TLPC Operation Grateful & Support

Our Membership & Outreach and Social Action, Missions & Justice Teams have identified the rangers and staff at Donner Memorial State Park as our Operation Grateful essential workers for the next two weeks.

I spent some time this week with the staff of our nationally recognized park and was welcomed as an old friend when I mentioned I was Barbara Czerwinski’s pastor. Barbara is an expert in the history of all things Truckee and is a respected friend of the park. The park rangers and staff were beyond stunned when I shared that our church wanted to honor them for the next two weeks. One ranger shared that they have never stopped working and that during this pandemic, park visitors have been “crazy.” (I think we have all experienced “crazy” this last year, just try to drive down West River St. between 8:00 and 10:00 when there is a new snow or go to Safeway on a Friday night.) Back to the park staff… One ranger shared that they had never been thanked and they were so grateful that we are recognizing their hard work during this last year. One supervisor was at the park on his day off, making sure the parking lot was all clear and spiffy.

I invite you to write a note of gratitude and keep the 20 rangers and staff in your prayers these next two weeks. Being thankful people is a calling of our faith and your prayers and letters are deeply appreciated!

Your cards and letters can be addressed to:
